Electrical Systems Engineer

How long have you worked at RACE?

I joined in July 2019, so I’ve worked at RACE for about a year and 8 months now.

How did you find out about the role?

I found the role through LinkedIn. I had been following UKAEA due to their work on fusion energy, even though my background was in the automotive industry.

What’s your role within the team?

I work as an Electrical Systems Engineer at RACE, creating electrical drawings and 3D CAD models of electrical systems used in remote handling tools in various nuclear fusion environments.

You’ve been at RACE for a while now, what is it about the role that you have enjoyed most so far?

UKAEA has provided a good work environment with lots of training, and support for the engineers. I also have good teammates and managers who are really supportive.

Since you started Covid has impacted the way we all work. How have you found it?

I miss the social aspect of working in a team, I used to meet up with all of my colleagues to share a laugh, which is what I miss most at the moment. However, there’s the convenience of waking up and being in the place where you’re going to be working, so that’s a benefit of working from home.
