Our Open Evenings offer you a unique opportunity to see in-person some of the amazing work we are doing to develop sustainable fusion energy.

You will receive an introductory talk covering the basics of fusion energy, followed by tours of the world’s largest fusion experiment; the world record breaking Joint European Torus (JET) and our Materials Research Facility (MRF). These tours will be led by engineers, scientists and technicians, who are currently working across Culham campus.

We’re excited to announce the launch of our revised Tritium Training Course this April, now expanded into a comprehensive 2-day format to provide deeper insights and practical knowledge for professionals working in fusion energy, with an exclusive visit to our operational tritium facility.

This enhanced course is designed to give participants a strong foundation in tritium science and safety, with advanced modules covering its interaction with materials, facility operations, and lifecycle management.

Our Remote Handling Training Course is back! The four day in-person interactive course will provide professionals involved in strategy, design and operations from organisations with:

  • Design and specification of remotely operated equipment

  • Rules for tool design

  • Software infrastructure must-haves for efficiency, safety and accountability

  • Risk reduction measures in high consequence environments

  • Building a remote operations team: people, processes and culture

  • Plant design considerations

Abstracts

Submissions are now open! This is your chance to showcase your research and be part of one of the most exciting events in plasma physics.

All abstracts must be submitted via UKAEA's Indico platform and submissions close 15th February at 23:59 GMT. Please note that given the tight timescales for reviewing abstracts, there will be no extensions to the deadline.

Plasma physics topics that will be included in the 52nd conference programme include:

  • Magnetic Confinement Fusion

  • Beam Plasma and Inertial Fusion

  • Low Temperature Plasma

  • Basic, Space and Astrophysical Plasmas

The 52nd conference will be set in the stunning city of Edinburgh from 29 June to 3 July 2026. The conference will be at the impressive Edinburgh International Conference and Exhibition Centre, conveniently located in the centre of Edinburgh with fantastic transport links and close to cafes, restaurants, and shops.
