This week the Fusion Energy Café opened its doors in Worksop, less than 20 miles from West Burton, the selected site for the UK's prototype fusion power plant.
The café is located at The Bridge Skills Hub in Worksop and operated by local businesswoman, Diana Kaponas. It aims to provide information to help the local and surrounding communities to understand what fusion energy is, and inspire people who could work in the fusion energy industry to provide safe, sustainable, and low-carbon energy for our future.
The Fusion Energy Cafe's mission is "to create a dynamic environment that inspires and nurtures the local community to have interest and aspirations to study or field in the field of fusion energy."
The cafe is a collaborative project funded by Bassetlaw District Council, North Notts Business Improvement District and UKAEA. The café will also host events and guest talks to inspire careers in this ground-breaking field.
